Gaia
2012, Agiorgitiko
Nemea, Greece
Major Grape: Agiorgitiko
Tasting Notes
A structured wine, showing the intense fruit of the grape variety and well integrated oak. With proper cellar conditions it will evolve over the next four years becoming more complex and velvety. This is medium bodied wine, with forward primary fruit, deep purple color and firm tannins.
Mt Difficulty
2012, Bannockburn Pinot Noir
Central Otago, New Zealand
Major Grape: Pinot Noir
Tasting Notes
A cool vintage has produced a Pinot Noir displaying delicious perfumed aromatics with piercing clarity; dark red and black fruits of the forest dominate the aroma and these are underpinned by lifted floral notes. The wine displays lovely elegance and flow with striking precision and clarity. On the palate it kicks off with a plush dense fruit of the forest entry, this plushness then moves beautifully into the mid palate, after which fine elegant textural tannins frame fruit and acidity on a lengthy finish.
Review
Good, robust colour. Big and sweet fruited on the nose. Luscious, ripe red and black cherry and blackberry flavours; fragrant and spicy with support from well-integrated oak. Still very youthful with good concentration and moderate, youthful complexity. Medium body, its nicely weighted in the mouth. Big, bold tannins are youthful just now, but they're sure to flesh out. A vibrant, enjoyable, young wine. 4.5 stars - Wine NZ, November 2013
Domaine Magellan
2013, Viognier vdp
Languedoc, France
Major Grape: Viognier
Tasting Notes
Very aromatic with overtones of white flowers, apricot, white peach. This wine has low acidity, which makes it really easy to drink by it's own. Flavours of peaches, quince and some waxy lanolin that make the palate quite complex for the price.
