Majolini
2011, Curtefranca Rosso Ruc di Gnoc
Lombardia, Italy
Major Grape: 90% Merlot + Cabernet
Tasting Notes
This is the quintessential Lombardy wine that was widely produced prior to the production of Franciacorta (Champagne-method sparking wine) that is now ubiquitous in the region. The wine is deep, rich and robust, with a distinctly wild quality that comes from the addition of Barbera and Nebbiolo. It has an attractive, gently juicy, ripe Damson Plum nose with hints of black cherries and sandalwood. On the palate it is dry and harmonious with plummy, gently juicy, lingering, ripe cherry flavours
Domaine du Roncee
2012, Chinon
Loire, France
Major Grape: Cabernet Franc
Tasting Notes
Tasting notes - Red colour with hints of blue at an early age, nose of fresh black fruits and spices, tender and easy to drink. A true purity of Cabernet Franc fruit, fully ripe, clean, showing exquisite raspberry fruit and a flinty, stoney, minerality. Special considerations! The high-trellised vines are used to promote sunlight for a best ripening. Grasses are planted between rows to promote healthy vineyard management. Grapes are hand sorted prior to pressing. Gravity-fed system to reduce bruising and oxidation in production. Cold maceration and short vatting times are used to promote freshness of fruit.
