Azienda Agricola Villa Monteleone
2012, Valpolicella Classico Campo Santa Lena
Veneto, Italy
Major Grape: Corvina
Tasting Notes
This is an exceptional Valpolicella Classico. Stainless steel fermentation and maturation ensure solid fruit is presented. Aromas of dusty plums, black currant, with a hint of pepper and herb. On the palate it has plum, cherry, black currant as well as thyme and dried brown herb. Also look for lingering black notes of tar and chocolate and light tannins. This is a very good expression of what the native Veneto varietals can do without manipulation.
Luigi Righetti
2008, G & G Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOC
Veneto, Italy
Major Grape: Corvina
Tasting Notes
A big, rich, beautifully structured wine, showing dark fruits, mature plum, toasted oak, espresso and chocolate notes. Full-bodied, with well integrated fruit, tannin and acidity - in short, power balanced by elegance. A delicious wine to be savoured and contemplated.
Chateau Saint Dominique
2010, Puisseguin Saint Emilion
Bordeaux, France
Major Grape: 80% Merlot
Tasting Notes
This winery in the satellite appellation of St Emilion was recently purchased by the Rothschild family. The wine is showing a very deep ruby colour., while the nose is ripe and opulent, showing red fruits (strawberry, raspberry) pepper and scents of other spices. Altogether a complex wine that will drink well over the next 4 to 6 years.
